At GHBC, we recognize God has given the responsibility of raising children to the parents. We also recognize children are bombarded every day by the world's influences. Our desire is to be a help to the parent by offering ministries which give a solid biblical foundation of Bible knowledge, with an emphasis on what that knowledge means to how we live each day. Our children's ministries include:
GHBC takes the safety of children seriously from their youngest days. We offer a safe and clean nursery during every service, staffed with trained, loving members, where parents can be sure their child will be cared for. We want to show God's love by doing the very best we can to ensure a pleasant time at GHBC.
Toddlers (2-3 years old) and Pre-Primary (4-5 years old):
It is always amazing to observe how quickly children learn during these ages. They will come home with papers done in their Sunday School class and singing songs they were taught or sang that day. Our desire at GHBC is to see children come to love learning about God and all He has done. We want them to understand who Jesus is, that God loves them, and created them wonderfully and for His glory. These classes meet during our Sunday School hour from 9-10 AM.
Primary - Juniors (1st - 6th Graders):
GHBC offers split classes of Primary (1st & 2nd Grades), Middler (3rd & 4th Grades), and Junior (5th & 6th Grades) during the Sunday School hour. Knowing the seriousness of the battle for children's hearts, we strive to create an environment where students focus on God and His Word in the midst of a world that does not. This is a place where students are encouraged to learn from God's Word, cultivate a respect for parents and others, and develop a love for all people. We welcome your children to be a part of this ministry.
Childen's Church (Age 3 - 1st Grade):
We believe it is important for families to worship together. At the same time, we understand the need to encourage continued learning children. During the morning service families are encouraged to be together as we sing praises to our God. Just before the morning message, children from three years old to First Grade are dismissed to go and enjoy our children's church ministry. Parents are asked to pick up their children at the Children's Ministry wing at the conclusion of the morning service.
AWANA (3 years old - 6th Grade):
The GHBC AWANA Club program is our Bible-centered mid-week children's ministry which focuses on learning God's Word in an environment geared to the craziness of childhood. The program is Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:05 PM. You can get more information and register your child/children on our AWANA page.
7th - 12th Grades
The teen years are some of the most exciting years of life. These are the years where much of the foundation for life is built. GHBC wants to be an encouragement to families and their teenagers by offering real answers to life questions every teen wrestles with. Our desire is to see every student pursuing being the person God wants them to be according to the Bible. We desire to instill in young people the need to:
Seek a genuine relationship with God
Know I belong to Jesus and define who I am by what He says in His Word
See the importance of serving God
To show God's glory to others each day in how I treat them
Know the importance of belonging to and being committed to a fellowship of believers (local church)
GHBC seeks to accomplish this through several different avenues.
Students meet in their Sunday School class and are taught truths from God's Word. Our desire is to equip teens to understand how God's Word applies to our daily lives. Our goal is to do this in a way that stretches teens towards maturity while recognizing they are still growing.
There are ministry opportunities some teens have a part in from being teamed with an adult and serving in a class or the nursery, to helping with tech ministry during the morning service.
During the school year, GHBC offers AWANA's Trek ministry for 7th-12th graders. This minsitry seeks to wrestle with three important questions students in this age group are wrestling with:
Who am I?
Why am I here?
Who's with me?
We want to dive into and wrestle with Scripture, looking for the answers. In doing this, we want teens to really take ownership of their faith and have it founded on God's Word.
For some 11th-12th graders, there are also leadership opportunities working side-by-side wiht adults in the younger AWANA age groups. We want them to put their faith into practice serving God by serving others.
We cannot forget how active this time of life is. GHBC offers activities throughout the year for fun, fellowship, and yet still desiring to see young people grow in their faith.
